When I started Alpine Parrot, I had a singular mantra running through my head: “Step One: Make Pants.”
What seems so simple is, in fact, extraordinarily complicated—as many of you in the Alpine Parrot community have witnessed (though we’ve kept the more agonizing bits to ourselves). Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could simply press a button and get perfectly fitting pair of pants delivered to our doors?
Fortunately, that’s exactly what we’re aiming for in the next few months: our wonderful customers will be able to hit a button on alpineparrot.com and, in a matter of days, will receive what many are saying are the best pants they’ve ever owned.
We are making PANTS, y’all! And I am so excited to share that we have FINALLY started shipping those Ponderosa Pants to Kickstarter backers! 🙀 So, with that excitement in hand, let's dive into the State of the Pants to share how we've gotten here.
Many of you have wondered where our pants are being made. Working with an ethically-run factory was one of our top priorities, and we're please to share that the factory making the Ponderosa Pants is a WRAP-certified factory based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. WRAP stands for Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production, and it is an independent organization that inspects factories for ethical employment and practices for sewn product goods. Certification requirements include prohibition of forced labor, the ability for workers to assemble and bargain collectively, and limitations to hours.
Due to the state of the global supply chain, finished pants will be shipped out on a rolling basis - we’re sending pants out as quickly as our factory can make them and get them to us. We’re prioritizing shipping based on when the order came in, starting with Kickstarter backers and then pre-orders. It should be noted, however, that only Slate Gray and Sky Black pants are being shipped at this time; Sage Green pants won’t be available until spring 2022.
We hope you're as excited for these updates as we are, and it's been incredible hearing feedback from our community as pants continue to arrive at their new homes. Thank you all for your patience! It means the world to me and the rest of the Alpine Parrot team! Sending you all gratitude and giggles as we all finish up the chaos that has been 2021 💖
High Fives,
Raquel
