The Ponderosa Pants
Our award-winning Ponderosa Pants are back for Spring 2024 and they're better than ever. You spoke, and we listened—we’ve updated our sizing and size charts to be easier to read and easier to identify your perfect fit. Both our Mountain and River Fits have more room in the waist. The River Fit now allows for a straighter fit between hips and waist, while our Mountain Fit has a little more room in the belly/hips and thighs. If you had to size up because there wasn’t enough room in the waist and were disappointed to have to deal with extra room in the hips and thighs, you should be able to size down to the size you were originally expecting to be. Of course, we encourage you to compare your measurements to our size chart to be sure—and reach out to us directly if you have any questions! We are always happy to help.
We mentioned in our last State of the Apparel that we’d be discontinuing our Sky Black color. While goodbyes are hard, we are SO excited to share a brand-new color with you, Sandstone. Sandstone was inspired by the warmth and vibrance of our desert adventures. It’s just the right shade of orange to make you stand out amongst your friends but fit right in with nature. We’re in love with Sandstone and hope you are, too!
Cypress Shorts
Folks, it has been SO HARD to stay quiet about this one! It's been a long time coming, but shorts—made of the same beloved fabric as our Ponderosa Pants—are finally here. And they couldn't be better.
When the weather gets hot, we wanted to do more than roll up our Pondos, so we made it happen. Introducing the Cypress Shorts, made with the same comfortable, quick-dyring, and abrasion-resistant fabric you've come to love but with a 9” inseam (thigh chafing is real, y’all).
We’ve replaced the embedded belt from the Pondos with an elasticated waistband and belt loops, which means you’ll be moving and grooving with ease. And we wouldn’t be Alpine Parrot if we didn’t include THE BIGGEST POCKETS you’ve ever seen on a pair of shorts—they’re so roomy that they can fit an entire Kindle (not that you’d necessarily bring one on the trail with you 😉). The amount of stretch in these shorts means we don’t need any Fit Styles at all (determined after TONS of testing), so the only choice you need to make is whether you want your pair in Slate Gray or Sky Black (or both! You do you!). Available in sizes 1-5, check our size chart to find the pair that was made just for you. Take them biking, hiking, birding, or gardening.
Arroyo Sun Hoodie
The sun gives us life, but too much of it without protection is dangerous. Regardless of how much melanin you have in your skin, it’s important to take care of your body while spending time outside. That's where our new, summer-minded shirt comes into play.
The Arroyo Sun Hoodie’s super soft fabric has a UPF rating of 50+, making it easier to get out without having to remember to lather up in sunscreen every two hours. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, and quick drying, making it perfect for spending time on the water or on the trail. It boasts a big kangaroo pocket—great for holding lightweight items—and each sleeve features thumb holes to ensure coverage on your wrists and the backs of your hands. For days when the sun is shining high, the Arroyo's huge hood helps to protect the back of your neck. Finally, our sun hoodie boasts a henley collar for sweet style and adjustable coverage as needed. Available in Dawn Gray for maximum reflectivity and Tidal Blue for maximum color-induced joy, sizes 1-5 (1x-5x), in both Coastal and Forest Fits.
