As summer days shine and we celebrate our LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month, we wanted to dig a little deeper on how we consider and view gender as a company that uses women's sizing.
At Alpine Parrot, we recognize that gender is a spectrum, not a binary. We also recognize that the apparel industry has traditionally disagreed with that notion: most stores separate apparel into men’s, women’s, and children’s sections.
Because our company was founded by someone who identifies as a woman, we decided to focus on women’s sizing (e.g. 14-30), instead of men’s sizing. But that doesn’t mean that our clothes are only made for women—rather, they’re made for anyone who wants to get outside while existing in a larger body. If our apparel fits you and makes you feel good, then it's for you. It's as simple as that.
It’s for this reason that we encourage anyone, regardless of their gender identity, interested in checking out our clothes to carefully review the size charts (or our how to measure guide), so that they can get the best fit and see if Alpine Parrot might work for them.
At the end of the day, we celebrate and encourage underrepresented people to participate in the outdoors, regardless of how they identify, who they love, or what section of stores they tend to shop in. We hope to always support our community and welcome everyone who wants to get outside.
