After five incredible years of pushing boundaries and challenging norms in the outdoor apparel industry, we have made the tough decision to close Alpine Parrot's doors.
Our Alpine Parrot Story
When I founded Alpine Parrot in 2019, I had a simple dream: to create outdoor clothing that allowed people in bigger bodies to feel comfortable and confident in nature. Together, we've made significant strides towards that goal. We've challenged industry standards, celebrated diversity in the outdoors, and created a community of passionate adventurers who refuse to be limited by clothing sizes. Getting awards and landing on shelves at retailers around the globe certainly felt good, but it was all of your tears of joy that truly made every minute spent on this company worth it.
The Challenges We Faced
- Economic factors significantly impacted customer spending habits.
- The entire outdoor industry grappled with inventory challenges.
- Rising interest rates affected our cash flow and ability to secure loans.
- We witnessed a concerning shift in conversations away from body neutrality and back towards extreme diet culture.
Despite our best efforts to adapt and pivot our strategy, the lack of capital prevented us from executing the changes needed to keep Alpine Parrot afloat.
What's Next?
- Starting today, we're offering 40%+ off everything in our store. All sales are final, so don't miss this last chance to get your hands on Alpine Parrot gear!
- Our website will remain open until December 1st, 2024 - but don't wait! Once our inventory is gone, it's gone for good.
- Later this month, we'll be offering a special "Almost Parrot" sale, featuring prototype items that never made it to production (think puffy jackets, midlayer jackets, rain jackets, and more). We have a limited selection of colors and sizes, but with the same quality you’ve come to know from AP.
A Personal Note
Although Alpine Parrot is closing, the conversation about size inclusivity in outdoor gear is far from over. I encourage all of you to continue advocating for change, supporting inclusive brands, and most importantly, enjoying the great outdoors in whatever body you have.
