Happy Women's History Month! Today, we'd like to celebrate five women who are MAKING history with their platforms on Instagram. We appreciate all the work they do, and want to uplift them in every way we can 🙌🏽 Check out these women, as well as some of the organizations they are apart of, below, and know that these are just a handful of the inspiring women out there making a difference.
Sam Ortiz of Climb Big
Sam is someone we've admired for a long time. Not only is she the co-creator of @climb.big, a community of fat and plus size climbers, but she also has been starting conversations about plus size in the outdoors on Clubhouse and beyond.
Ashley Manning of Ashley's Adventures
Ashley inspires us by keeping it real while being a super adventurer, whether that's being a raft guide, thru-hiker, or more. She's also developed quite the following on TikTok by providing gear reviews specifically for plus size!
Parker McMullen Bushman of KweenwerK
Parker embodies the notion of celebration outdoors on TikTok and Instagram, whether you're a person of color, size, or both. She is also co-creating a new Greenbook via Inclusive Journeys to help underrepresented people find safe and welcoming spaces to enjoy the outdoors, launching summer 2021.
Serene Cusack of Fatty on the Fly
Being outside isn't always easy or Instagram perfect. We love following Serene because of her honesty in both the ups and downs of her time spent outside, how she embraces the feeling of learning, and encourages everyone around her to dive into things they've never considered. Interested in fly fishing? Check out some of her events with the Confluence Collective.
Fatty on the Fly:
Jolie Varela of Indigenous Women Hike
Jolie's tireless work celebrates Indigenous history, language, and culture, while also sharing incredible lessons that many of us need to know but never learned in school. We are continually learning from her and inspired by her.
